I was recently contacted by two different employers asking my help in getting the word out about job opportunities on the slope.

Specifically, they are interested in hearing from HAZWOPER Technicians and Asbestos & Lead Based Paint Abatement workers.

I've added both companies to my list of Job Resources, so you'll want to check there for full contact information. Remember, to apply for a position you’ll need to submit your application/résumé directly with the company advertising the opening. You cannot apply for a job through my website.

If asked where you heard about a job opening, please mention my website. Thanks!

Links for each employer can be found on the Job Resources page of www.AlaskaPipelineJobInfo.com Once on a company’s website look for a “jobs” or “career” link. When you find the position you're interested in, apply directly online with that company.

PACIFIC ENVIRONMENTAL CORP. (PENCO)
  • HAZWOPER Technicians

PENCO wrote to say they are on the lookout for qualified personnel. I've worked with PENCO employees while at Kuparuk and have found them to be a great group of people. Below is a bit more information from their site:

"PENCO HAZWOPER Technicians perform oil and hazardous material spill response and other scheduled duties including: Spill Response, Waste Manifesting, Packaging, Labeling, and Transportation, Well Cellar Maintenance, Fire-watch, Gravel Crews, Boom Crews, Containment Construction, Dewatering, Oil-Water Separation, Tank Cleaning, and routine oilfield and industry related activities including painting and maintenance."

PENCO has been added to my Job Resources page. I included a bit more information about the company as well as a link to their site and directions on how to find job postings.

**NOTE** The PENCO website was down when I sent out this newsletter. My link is good – just keep trying.

CHEMTRACK ALASKA INC.

Here's a great lead for Asbestos and Lead Based Paint Abatement Workers…

I received an email from ChemTrack asking my help in finding workers for upcoming projects. Here's what they had to say:

ChemTrack is searching for 15-25 asbestos and lead based paint abatement workers that have their NSTC cards. The pay would be between $15/hr - $25/hr depending on experience. At this point we are just looking for resumes for future work.

This is a great lead! ChemTrack does not have this opportunity listed on their website and I could find nothing at all online when I searched.

Don't be put off by the "future work" statement. Winter is the busy season on the slope and these people wouldn't be collecting resumes if they didn't think they'd need them.

And when it comes to pay, anything over 8hrs/day and 40 hrs/week means overtime (1.5x your rate). A typical slope shift is 12 hours per day with no days off.

To apply, send a resume to the info@chemtrack.net address listed under ChemTrack on my Job Resources page. Include Asbestos/Lead Abatement Resume (or anything else appropriate) in the subject line of your email.

Don't forget, if asked where you heard about a job opening, please mention my website. The more employers hear about AlaskaPipelineJobInfo.com the more special opportunties I'll be able to bring your way. Thanks!
